Cardinals to Meet With Schmidt

Cardinals GM Walt Jocketty confirmed that he will meet with Jason Schmidt's agents, the Hendricks brothers. Schmidt is drawing interest from the Mariners, Cubs, Dodgers, and Cardinals. He has said he would prefer to stay out west, but both the Cubs and Cardinals are aggressively pursuing him so he may have a change of thought. The Cubs were believed to have made an offer, but that rumor was false. The Cardinals have recenrly signed pitcher Kip Wells, and plan to meet with Schmidt next week. The Cubs, who will also meet with Ted Lilly, also plan to talk with Jason Schmidt.
