Cardinals Sign Izturis

The Cardinals signed Cesar Izturis to a one year contract, replacing David Eckstein. The deal is worth 2.85 million dollars, so it isn't exactly bad, but Izturis is not a starter. He is above average defensively, but did not play very well in the NL Central over the past two seasons. By not signing Eckstein, it seems that they will focus on pitching coming into next weeks Winter Meetings.
