Report: MVP and Cy Young Voting

According to a report from MSNBC.com, the ballots for baseballs 2007s Awards are shaping up like this. I agree with most, and am happy with some of the players voted in lower spots. The Official Voting will be announced next week, but I thought I should let you know how it is shaping up:

NL MVP
1. Jimmy Rollins
2. Matt Holliday

AL MVP
1. Alex Rodriguez
2. Magglio Ordonez
3. David Ortiz
4. Vladimir Guerrero

1. Jake Peavy

1. CC Sabathia
2. Josh Beckett
3. John Lackey

UPDATE: THIS IS JUST ONE BALLOT, OFFICIAL RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED NEXT WEEK.

believe it or not C.C. was more consistant in quality starts and giving up less than 2 runs, he had a string of 10 starts that he gave up 3 earned runs or less in 7 innings or more. Plus that walk-strikeout ratio was the best in the league. The one thing Beckett had going over C.C. was postseason performance of course.

You completely read the wrong context in this article. These aren't the official tallies. This is the result of the MSNBC contributing sports writers voting on the major awards and who they believe should win them. THESE ARE NOT THE OFFICIAL OUTCOMES!!!!!

Yes...read the article. it is how they think the ballot is taking shape. no where do i say these are official-i said "I should let you know how it is shaping up"

Beckett definately deserves it over CC. Like ARod, CC disappeared in the playoffs and Beckett stayed strong all season and post season. If they give it to anyone other than Beckett i will lose all faith in baseball.

How can you say this is the way the voting is "shaping up" when this is ONLY ONE BALLOT!!!! What if this was a few years ago and you published the ballot of the moron who left Pedro off completely for MVP? Would that be how it was "shaping up"????

The argument used to justify not giving awards to players who play in Colorado is the cheap offensive statistics players compile there. Has anyone watched a baseball game in Philly? That place is a bandbox.

I take that last comment back. Here are Rollins' and Holliday's road versus home statistics:

Rollins:

Home - 18, 47, .300
Away - 12, 47, .293

Holliday:

Home - 25, 82, .376
Away - 11, 55, .301

I give it to Rollins.

anyone that says Beckett should win the award based on the playoffs has to realize the awards were already voted on the day after the regular season ended. Thus the postseason means nothing in the votes. C.C. should go over Beckett for the stats I mentioned, the one stat Josh had over C.C. was wins. Everything else C.C. had over Josh this season, but one thing is for sure, either one deserves that award. Carmona will get it next season.

As for Rollins vs. Holliday... sure Holliday has great numbers at the plate, but that's just half the story. Holliday is an average fielder in the outfield. Jimmy Rollins is now a Gold Glover at one of the most difficult positions on the field. Jimmy also posted insane numbers at the plate for a shortstop... 30 Homers, 20+ doubles, 20+ triples, 20 stolen bases... and so on. Holliday is a very good, strong bat - other than that, he's just average. There's more to MVP than home runs and batting average.
