Santana, Cabrera Decision Soon

Johan Santana and Miguel's Cabrera's future with their team will be decided in the next day or two, according to sources. From what I am hearing, the teams in discussions with the Marlins and Twins have given an ultimatum: Take it, or leave it. The Angels have offered Howie Kendrick, Jeff Mathis, Ervin Santana/Nick Adenhart, and a mid-level prospect in exchange for Cabrera, and the Marlins will not bite. They now want both Santana and Adenhart with Kendrick and Mathis. I'm sure the Angels will consider a different deal but they will definitely not give up both pitchers. The Marlins are asking for way too much for their player, but can you blame them? The Dodgers have already backed out, and if the Marlins don't return to the former deal, I bet the Angels will back out as well. However, it is not like the Marlins are just trying to see what they can get for him. His big salary will soon hurt the budget conscious Marlins and that is why they are trading him, among other reasons.

The Twins are reaching that point as well. The Yankees and Red Sox have made very good offers to the Twins for Johan Santana, and they are still insisting for more. Now the Twins have room to hold onto him, but why would they when you could get Phil Hughes, Melky Cabrera, and possibly Alan Horne. The Red Sox also raised the bar on their offer and are offering Jacoby Ellsbury, Jed Lowrie, and Michael Bowden for Santana. If they do not take that, they are making a big mistake. The Red Sox and Yankees will not improve their offers anymore and will just wait and see what the Twins do. Both teams are still great teams in the league, but Santana would definitely help. If they cannot reach a deal with Santana, I bet they will look to Dan Haren of the Athletics.

why do you say "If they cannot reach a deal with Santana, I bet they will look to Dan Haren of the Athletics." it has already been reported several times that they will look at Dan Haren if it doesnt work with Santana..with the teams coming and and saying it. Do you say this to try and make yourself look good when the deal with Santana doesnt go through and then they do start talking to Haren? pathetic.
