Winter Meetings Day 2

Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera going to Detroit: The Tigers traded Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, Dallas Trahern, Eulogio De La Cruz and Burke Badenhop to the Marlins for Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. This surprises me because it got done so quickly. The Tigers got a lot better with this deal and although they surrender a lot of prospects, they have players with a lot of potential that can come through. Giving Jacque Jones the everyday job is not a bad thing. He had 25+ homeruns in 2006 for the Cubs.

Johan Santana Update: The Red Sox are on the verge of agreeing to a deal with the Twins. That is no surprise, considering players have been discussed for so long. From there, they will probably look to exclusive negotiating rights, and possibly cash involved in the deal.

Orioles Shopping Players: The Orioles are talking with the Dodgers about a trade that would send Erik Bedard to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp and John Broxton. It will probably take one more player, but it would not surprise me to see this get done.

Nationals, Braves After Miller: The Nationals are eying Damian Miller mainly so he can mold Jesus Flores into a solid catcher. However, they are facing competition from the Braves, who he would back up for Brian McCann. If Miller is looking for playing time, he should go to the Nationals.

White Sox After Jones?: The White Sox are thinking about making an offer to Andruw Jones. This would not surprise me, considering that Guillen is a very big fan of Jones'.

Astros set to acquire Barmes?: I am hearing the Astros are "very close" to acquiring Clint Barmes from the Rockies in exchange for Chris Burke.

Dodgers Make Offer to Kuroda: The Dodgers made an offer to Hiroki Kuroda, confirmed by Ned Colletti.

Cardinals, Brewers Talks Stop: According to sources down in Nashville, talks between the Cardinals and Brewers have stopped.

Blue Jays Prepare Offer for Lo Duca: The Blue Jays are preparing an offer for Paul Lo Duca.

Padres are front-runners for Fukudome: The Padres are the front-runner in the race for Kosuke Fukudome. Not only has Fukudome been on the Padres radar for the past 10 years, but he is familiar with the Padres organization after nearly signing there out of high school.
