TJ Pena spoils Tigers power lineup debut: Royals shortstop Tony Pena Jr. hit a game winning single to beat the Tigers in the tenth, 5-4.

Notable box score line: Placido Polanco went 0-6.

Franklin Gutierrez proves he's ready: Although the Indians gave up some runs late, they proved that their offense can survive the AL Central.

Notable box score line: Alexei Ramirez went 0-4 with three strikeouts.

Rays open with win in new uniforms: James Shields was phenomenal in seven innings, and the offense did their part to take the win.

Webb spoils Baker debut: Brandon Webb kept the Reds quiet in his season debut, pitching six strong innings.

Fukudome taking control in debut, but bullpen falls: The Cubs were all smiles despite a tough loss to the Brewers. Yes, Kerry Wood and Bob Howry did not pitch well, but Carlos Marmol and Fukudome have the Cubs fans very excited.

Notable box score line: Kosuke Fukudome went 3-3 with a walk, single, double, and game tying three run homerun in the ninth.

Another late rally for Nationals: The Nationals scored five runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Phillies 11-6.

Johan begins Mets career with a win: David Wright and Carlos Beltran stepped up to help Johan Santana get his first win as a Met.

The Dodgers are Giants in Opener: The Dodgers worked the Giants for 11 hits and five runs as Joe Torre picks up his first Dodger "W".

i love how you praise the Indians for their offense, but you forgot to mention the 4 blown calls by the umps that went against the sox

to the anony before me, do you really think eli had the time to watch every single game? NO he was at school, he got to watch parts of all games. He most likely didnt see any "blown calls" by the umps.

Man, that was some of the worst umping I've seen. I can somewhat understand the Crede phantom tag being called, and same with Garko being pulled off the bag, but the call on Cabrera was terrible. Especially after Casey Blake's slide earlier in the game. This is coming from an Indians fan! Hate to win games because of terrible umping, oh well, better than a loss.

You don't even have to mention the umpires. Mention the fact that the Sox gave up 7 runs in the 2nd inning and almost won the game anyway. Their offense did more to prove anything yesterday than the Indians' did. The Indians only scored in 2 separate occasions yesterday: 1) A stretch in the 2nd because Buehrle wasn't getting the outside strike and when he came in they were blasting it 2) 3 runs off of Dotel when he was 1 strike away from ending the inning after all those bad calls.

One thing I learned from playing is that you cant have the umps play the game for you. I didnt see the calls, but come on...

Eli...we have all played the game..ok , maybe 1 bad call you can deal with, but when the umps blow 4 calls in 2 innings which cost you 4 runs, seriously, theres only so much a team could do, and i know damn well that if those calls had gone against the cubs, you would be crying, so dont try to down play the umps mistakes just cause it happened to the White Sox

Right, but the calls weren't even close. A close call going the wrong way is one thing, this is another. Especially considering everyone of these calls were on run scoring plays. Come on Eli, wake up bud.

Eli's just a young buck gentleman, you have to take that into consideration. It's very hard for naive people to look at things objectively, but that will change as he finishes school and matures.

It also doesn't help that the bad calls went against his the pale hose. ( those are the white sox little buddy)

Regardless, keep up the good work with the site!
