Dodgers Pursuing Dunn

ESPN.com's Jason Stark is reporting that the Dodgers have entered the mix for free agent outfielder Adam Dunn. Dunn, who has hit 40 homeruns for four seasons in a row, would give the Dodgers the power bat they need. The Dodgers finished fourteenth in the league in homeruns last season, even after Manny Ramirez joined their squad. Contacting Dunn could be a way to speed up the process with Manny Ramirez, but signing Dunn might leave them more money to pursue other options as well.

The Cubs are believed to be Dunn's first choice, but the Cubs have yet to get serious with Dunn. The Mariners, Orioles, and Nationals are also interested.

I really don't understand the Nationals pursuing Dunn.

At first base they have Nick Johnson and Ron Belliard platooning from time to time.

Johnson can put up great numbers if he stays healthy and Belliard has hit very solid since he has been in Washington.

Don't forget that they have Dmitri Young in AAA who I think deserves a chance to show what he can do.

Where would Dunn fit in @ first?

And the outfield is very crowded.

-Elijah Dukes
-Willie Harris
-Lastings Milledge
-Austin Kearns
-Willy Mo Pena
-Josh Willingham

They just gave Harris a 2 year deal.

Willy Mo Pena picked up his option and I think they will have a hard time trading him. Wonder how many AB's he can get.

So that leaves Kearns, Willingham, Dukes and Milledge competing for everyday AB's. All 4 of those guys have great potential.

Guess whoever gets hurt or struggles is going to lose out.

I really do not see any room for Dunn what so ever. Use that money on pitching. Washington needs that badly.

Dunn loves hitting in Wrigley Field, but can you see him playing one off the ivy. I think the friendly confines may not be that friendly to Adam. If you could put Derick Lee spmewhere place else, you might e rewarded with 50 plus dingers. Washington, come on Bowden your still AAA there.
