Nationals have interest in Mike Gonzalez, Mark DeRosa
The Nationals have interest in closer Mike Gonzalez and infielder/outfielder Mark DeRosa, according to Bill Ladson of MLB.com. Both players would certainly address holes the Nationals are trying to fill, but they are expected to face a lot of competition with these two players.
Gonzalez would likely be the teams closer, replacing Mike MacDougal after posting a 2.42 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.
DeRosa has already been contacted by several teams, but the Nationals hope DeRosa has some interest in playing either second base or left field in D.C.
DeRosa wasn't phenomenal after joining St. Louis, battling wrist problems for most of the season. It'll be interesting to see how he bounces back from offseason surgery.
