Nationals to pursue John Lackey?
MLB.com's Bill Ladson is reporting that the Nationals are planning on making a run at free agent pitcher John Lackey. The Nationals hope to bring in Lackey to be their ace, but also serve in a mentor role for their young starting pitchers. Lackey is likely looking at a five year deal in the 65-75 million dollar range, which the Nationals can afford in their 2010 payroll.
Lackey went 11-8 with a 3.83 ERA in 27 starts this past season, and is already drawing interest from the Brewers and Mets.
He isn't expected to sign until after the Winter Meetings.

Not to mention everything else...
…wrong with that post.
1. “Scossi” deserves it, eh?
2. Sign Heath Bell, who’s not a free agent?
3. “That other kid I forget—of”: Reggie Willits is the name, although you also forgot Gary Matthews, Jr. Maybe he was part of your fictitious trade for 3B Paul Konerko, though.
4. And of course, can’t forget those bench players, “Maycere Isturis” and “Rod Quinlen”.
(Yes, I did those on purpose.)
Oy!
