WEEI.com is reporting that the Mets are closing in on a one year deal with shortstop Alex Cora. Amazin' Avenue says he is guaranteed 2 million dollars for 2010, with some sort of vesting option for 2011.
Cora hit .251 in 82 games before being shutdown in mid-August to have surgery to repair two town ligaments in both thumbs. He'll serve as an infield back up for Luis Castillo and Jose Reyes.
