Raul Ibanez Placed On 15-Day DL

PrintThe Philadelphia Phillies have place left fielder Raul Ibanez on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.
To replace Ibanez on the roster, the Phillies have recalled John Mayberry Jr. from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Ibanez is batting .312 with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs. Ibanez ranks second in the NL in home runs and RBIs.
Ibanez, who is considered by many to be an early MVP candidate through the first half of the season leads all NL outfielders in All-Star votes with 1,897,905 votes.
The Phillies certainly will miss Ibanez production as they try to maintain their 3 game lead over the Mets in the NL East.
