Teixeira and Youkilis Battle at the Ballot Box
The battle for first place between the Yankees and Red Sox is not only taking place on the diamond, it has now moved to the ballot box.
New York Yankees slugger Mark Teixeira has regained the lead over Kevin Youkilis in a back-and-forth race to be elected the starting American League first baseman for the All-Star game.
In results of fan voting released Tuesday, Teixeira is ahead by 35,632 ballots. The Yankees slugger has 1,561,292 votes and Youkilis of the Boston Red Sox has 1,525,660.
The two have been going back an forth as of late. In the previous results released Youkilis had a 1,350 vote lead over Teixeira.
Teixeira is currently batting .282 with 20 homers and 56 RBIs, while Youkilis is batting .318 with 12 homers and 42 RBIs.
The All-Star game is scheduled to be held July 14 in St. Louis.

Honestly, who cares? The MLB All-Star game is the biggest farce in professional sports. The fact that an exhibition game where starters are voted on by the fans determines home field advantage in the world series is laughable. I love baseball, but Bud needs to fix this!
