Youkilis Passes Teixeira in AL All-Star Ballot...Again
In one of the tightest races in All-star game history, Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis has moved back in front of the Yankees' Mark Teixeira with two days left in AL balloting for starters for the game in St. Louis on July 14.
Youkilis had 1,915,303 votes in total released Tuesday to Teixeira's 1,875,256. Last week, Teixeira was ahead by 35,632 ballots.
The two have battled back and forth since voting began, and it should be a race to the finish line. In the end I have a feeling Teixeira will pull it out.
Here is a look at how the two compare.
If you would like to vote for your favorite players go to MLB.com and click on the vote button on the top right corner. Voting rules allow you to vote up to 25 times, and the voting ends at 11:59 PM ET on July 2

Youk is the better hitter right now.
the .50 point difference in .OBP is too much to overlook.
He’s also superior defensively

I think superior is far to strong a word.

Stats don’t ALWAYS give an accurate indication of reality. I’m not saying Youk isn’t better (because he is) I just think saying he is “far superior” is a bit much.
