Is Pablo Sandoval an All-Star?
While reading Tom Verducci's column today on SI.com, it had me thinking. Is San Francisco Giants 3rd baseman Pablo Sandoval an All-Star?
Verducci ranks Sandoval right behind the Mets David Wright in his voting and ahead of Arizona's Mark Reynolds. While I am an huge Giants and Sandoval fan, I am not sure he belongs in the All-Star game.
At the beginning of the season The Panda, as we like to call him, struggled at the plate. You could tell he was pressing and trying a little too hard. Since then Sandovals bat has lit up and he has become a huge part of the Giants lineup. Right now Sandoval is hitting .336 with 11 home runs, and 39 RBI's. But does this hot streak mean Pablo will be selected to the All-Star game? And is he deserving of an spot on the All-Star team?
What's your opinion?

Short answer: Not really.
Long answer: Yes, but only as the third 3B behind Wright and Zimmerman.

Your short answer really requires some 'splainin.
"The BB's are out. The BB's are being arseholes to me." - Brian Wilson.
I suppose.
I’m just not sure how many spots they allot these days to each position. So if it’s three (which now that I think about it, it is), Sandoval should make it, I think.

.958 OPS
He’s more deserving of a spot than Zimmerman is, although Zimm should be an all star.
He, Zimm and Wright are all deserving. If the AL could have 4 SS in one all star game the NL can have 3 thrid basemen. He can take the spot of any of the NL SS not named Hanley Ramirez who might make the team, but do not deserve to.
Zimmerman's defense is light years ahead of Sandoval's
King of the bling come to lay down the evidence//Not George Bush, L-Millz be da president
Panda can also play 1B, (not important here) & C, (might be very important)
I think if you gave the call to the manager he would go with Panda because of having 3 C & 3 3B on his roster.

It's not a hot streak!
Jeebus, if you’re a Giants fan like you say you are, watch the games! The guy has had plate discipline that he didn’t have before, and is getting respect from pitchers.
Does he deserve to be on the all-star team? I think it’s a complete no-brainer- YES.
Will he be on the team? We’ll see.

Exactly
Kung Fu Attack Panda is definitely learning better plate discipline. His numbers certainly gives him the spot he deserves on the All-Star team, but you have to remember too many idiots stuff the ballots for their guys (ahem) in this popularity contest.

Unfortunately, I feel Kemp deserves it more.
But don’t get me wrong, Sandoval should be in. Again, do we really need FOUR 1Bs? And Ryan Howard? REALLY? He’s not really that good.

Eh.
Kemp WAR – 3.5
Panda WAR – 2.8
On an unrelated note, Panda War would be an awesome band name.
