Report: Marlins Looking for Relief Help
According to a report in the Miami Herald, the Florida Marlins are actively looking to add an additional pitcher to their bullpen. However, it appears they are trying to do so without adding substantial payroll.
Here are some names mentioned:
RHP-Joakim Soria- Kansas City Royals (Nine Saves, $1 Million)
- Sounds like a good idea, however, all reports out of Kansas City is Soria is not available.
LHP-George Sherrill-Baltimore Orioles (16 saves, $2.75 Million)
- Sherrill could be a nice fit; the O's are definitely entertaining offers for him.
RHP- Heath Bell- San Diego Padres (21 saves, $1.25 Million)
- Still unclear as to whether Bell is available. I imagine he's not, but if the Marlins blew them away with an offer they probably could have him. Don't expect this either.

Soria has been great the last couple years it would take a good prospect to get him

the Reds have a number of solid young relief pitchers
Josh Roenicke, Danny Ray Herrera, and Carlos Fisher are with the big club right now, and Pedro Viola has been pitching well in AAA. the Marlins love cheap players and the Reds are looking for a bat, so maybe something could work there?

maybe
but the Marlins are making a playoff push. Also if theyre young, they might not be fully established like Soria or Bell

I would like to have Soria
But Heath Bell is in a big scrap heap of the Padres. The Padres are looking to rebuild their farm system, and not win. They want their young players to get expieriance, and Bell will be cheaper than Soria, just not up to the bar Soria is at

The Royals think that Joakim Soria could be a good starting pitcher
There’s no way they’re trading him. This is a case of stupid media types calling off names of good players on teams that are out of it.
The fans of the Royals wish Soria would get a shot at starting.
The management is scared to death of that.
If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

Management was waffling, it seemed.
And Soria’s shoulder issues might’ve scared them off this season, but still the potential remains. Nonetheless, Soria isn’t going anywhere and the story linked is pure conjecture.
