Pujols Offers Salary Back if Caught Using Steroids

Even though Cardinals 1B Albert Pujols was tested six times last year for steroid use and found to be clean, he is still feeling under suspicion, mainly because of the amazing year he's having. Now, he's starting to feel indignant. He told USA Today, "Come test me every day if you want. Everything I ever made in this game, I would give back to the Cardinals if I got caught."  It seems to me that Pujols has been given his due lately as the undisputed dominant player of his day. Is he bringing on this talk himself by sounding so defensive? Would he be better off saying nothing and letting his bat and  clean drug tests speak for him?

High road talk has been done before with a few guys who were then caught

so it does not do much to stop rumors if there are any. And unless all his money is controlled by some sort of steroid judge ready to confiscate it, its just empty talk. What if it wasn’t an actual steroid but a masking drug would that count? I don’t think he’s on anything and can see why he’s defensive, but he’s just adding to it with this talk.

My personal belief is that the tests are unfairly intrusive to the players at this point though its not as bad as say the NBA and NFL as far as recreational drugs go.

If Owners, G.M.’s, Managers, coaches, ball boys, security guards, Law Makers, announcers, reporters etc had to submit to the same tests and availability to be involved and cover the team as the players many would quickly find another line of work.

I really hope he's clean. But I think the American public is weary of people denying things only to be caught later.

Rafael Palmiero wagged his finger at Congress and denied ever using PEDs.

Bill Clinton infamously denied “having sex with that woman”.

I don’t think Albert Pujols or Lance Armstrong or any successful athlete can convince the public that they have not used PEDs.

How do you prove a negative??

What evidence can Pujols or Armstrong offer in their defence besides the umpteen tests they are consistently submitted to that say that they are clean??

Tell them what they can do, and I bet they do it.
