New York Mets: Tim Redding Out, Julio Lugo In?

Stay connected for news and updates

The New York Mets may be close to releasing right-hander Tim Redding, and adding recently DFA shortstop Julio Lugo, this according to Adam Rubin of The New York Daily News.

Rubin notes that Julio Lugo has already begun working out at the Mets complex in the Dominican Republic.

However, the Boston Herald's Steve Buckley reports that at least three teams including the Mets, Cardinals and cubs may be interested in his services.

Any team that elects to sign Lugo will have to pay him a pro rated portion of the league minimum, and the Red Sox will be responsible for the remainder of his contract.
