Red Sox close to signing Cuban SS Iglesias

According to John Heyman of SI.com, the Red Sox are in serious discussions with shortstop Jose Iglesias.

Iglesias, 19, was a member of the Cuban national team until he defected last year in Canada during the World Junior Championships.

Scouts that have seen Iglesias play compare him to a young Ozzie Guillen.

Here is what one American League scout had to say about Iglesias.

"His hands and arm are deluxe, the question is how much he'll hit."

The deal, if finalized is expected to be in the $8 million range.
