With the Brewers pitching staff in shambles, there are grumblings around the league that they are shopping for a relief pitcher. Brewers manager Ken Macha recently pulled struggling pitcher Carlos Vilanueva from the bullpen and put him in the rotation, only to surrender five runs in four innings.
The Orioles have dangled closer George Sherrill, but their asking price is reportedly very high for an arbitration eligible. John Sickels over at Minor League Ball has pitcher Jake Odorizzi listed as their eighth best prospect. Odorizzi, a supplemental first round draft pick last year, is 1-2 with a 3.71 ERA in 5 games this season with the Rookie league Helena Brewers.
Odorizzi could be a prospect dealt in a Sherrill trade. He has a lot upside and if packaged in a deal with two other prospects, could entice the Orioles to pull the trigger.
