Trade Deadline Open Thread
Okay so we're down to the final hours, and the news and reports are going to be flying off the ceiling. Where will Roy Halladay go? Where will Victor Martinez go? It's going to get hot and heavy, so the open thread format should give us a great platform to keep you up to the minute.
Keep an eye out for any updates you guys might pick up along the way, if you read anything drop us a line, and we'll go ahead and discuss it. If you're going to post anything please try to link the credible source, so we don't waste our time talking about made up garbage.
Here we go....

To see what the haul is. They were asking quite a bit from the Yankees. I wonder if they came down on that price or if they hijacked the Tigers.

Yea
That’s a joke compared to what they asked from the Yankees.

Brewers
Anyone hearing about Kevin Corriea to the Brewers?
Suppan went on the DL yesterday. And unless they want to run a dead ball era 3 man rotation out there, Carlos Villanueva and AAA pitcher of the week, wont do the job.
San Diego Union-Tribune
Said Corriea to Brewers is probably dead

How can you kill a corpse
What are his away splits like?
I never thought that would have been a life altering trade for the Brewers, but man, what else is out there for Milwaukee?
I am glad that Melvin is not willing to part with Gamel or Escobar to get a guy that doesnt even get them to 2nd place. I bet Mark Attanasio is pissed at the lack of quality, affordable SP.
Not much out there
Maybe Garland or Davis, but those even seem far fetched at this point.

Bannister
Cheap, could be another option for teams, and I’m sure you wouldn’t have to give up a top prospect, but considering the contract the Royals will probably want a decent prospect.

This trade
was brought up earlier on the Brewer board
It probably would take Angel Salome or Brett Lawrie as well as Lorenzo Cain and Cody Scarpetta. Not big time names, but still probably takes those 3. Big gamble if they do it. And even if they pull it off, only gets them 2 more wins. Putting them at about 85, short of the division. Lots of ifs have to happen for the Brewers to be playoff bound again, even with a trade.
haha
Doubled up that Johnson post, and then I think we both deleted it

Did the Yankees get Aroyo?
Saw a couple twitter feeds that said so…. obviously not credible, but im definitely curious. Does anybody have an info on that?

If the Indians can get Buchholz and other prospects, I’ll really like this deal for them. Plus, maybe they would bring up Carlos Santana in Sept this year
weak haul for tribe
No Buchholz nor Bard? Masterson, who’s got a 4.5 ERA this season split between bullpen and starting, has some potential to be a starter, and then 2nd round picks from ‘07 and ’08. A lefty who’s been injured most of the time since being drafted in ’07 and is coming back from tommy john surgery, and a righty with a 6.5 ERA in 50+ IP in high-A this year over 11 starts.
