White Sox Acquire Rios off Waivers
The Chicago White Sox have made another bold move in their push for the playoffs by acquiring OF Alex Rios off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays, ESPN.com is reporting. Rios, who signed a 7 year contract worth nearly 70 million dollars in 2008, was hitting .264 with 14 home runs and 62 RBI's thus far this season. The Blue Jays received nothing in exchange for Rios aside from the obvious financial flexibility. Rios will battle for playing time this season and provides some leverage for the White Sox should they decide to let Jermaine Dye leave as a free agent after this season.

Rios will play centerfield
by moving Pods to the bench. People are thinking we will move JD to DH and let Thome go

Maybe not
This could mean bye-bye to Wise.
GO BLACKHAWKS... can we please fucking end the summer and start 2009-10?
Let's go, go, go, White Sox... sleepwalkers in a mediocre division. Again.
I witnessed Mark Buehrle's perfect game. Sat in dad's season tickets in Section 145, row 32, seat 7 with my friend Kevin in seat 8.
we can keep him in the minors
but it would be a shame to see him go after saving Buehrles perfect game

I agree
But moving Wise to the minors makes the most sense, you have Carlos Quentin, Scott Podsednik, and Jermaine Dye as the regulars before Rios came.
But “The Catch” will forever live on in White Sox lore and above Billy Pierce’s retired number.

Wise might be a nice novelty
but even with Rios playing well below his cabaility right now, Dewayne Wise is still not in Rios’ echelon.

no brainer
IMO, Wise is the clear cut favorite to be sent packing with the acquisition of Rios. If I remember correctly, Wise is out of options so he would need to clear waivers to be sent to the minors. This should not be a problem.
