The Royals have released left-handed reiiever Ron Mahay according to CBSSports.com. The Royals called up right-hander Yasuhiko Yabuta from the minors to replace Mahay:
The Royals designated Mahay for assignment on Monday. He was 1-1 with a 4.79 ERA in 41 games.
The 36-year-old Yabuta was 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA with Triple-A Omaha. He struck out 53 in 45 2/3 innings.
