Unknown team claims Rich Harden
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that an unknown team has claimed Rich Harden off trade waivers and has till Monday to work a deal for him. Cubs reliever Aaron Heilman was also claimed on waivers.
Of the two pitchers, Harden is far more intriguing. He is 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA in eight starts since the All-Star break, and his .500 opponents' OPS is the second-lowest among NL starters in that stretch, behind only the Phillies' Cliff Lee.
Harden will likely be a Type-A free agent, meaning the Cubs would receive high draft picks if they offer him arbitration and lose him.
Rosenthal speculates that a team like the Giants could make a move for him, or perhaps the Rockies or Dodgers.

i really hope they don't trade rich
they would be better of getting the draft picks. you can’t really get anybody back that will make a difference after the non-waiver deadline. its not like they need to save the money from his contract. just hold on to him and take the picks.

Rich Harden [last 8 starts]: 3-1, 1.80 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 50.0 IP, 60 K, 16 BB
He’s going about 6.1 innings in each of his last eight starts but that’s enough. The guy is amazing. He has the best stuff in the Majors bar none. No doubt about that in my mind. I’d trade for him in a heartbeat. And anyone who can sign him this offseason for as little as four years and $50-$60 million is looking at a major steal. I truly believe his injury issues are behind him. Guy is studly.

Forgot to mention that Harden has posted tERA’s of 3.60, 2.97, 2.61, and 3.90 in the four years he’s seen at least 120 innings. I’d say he’s worth the money.

Injury woes are behind him?
He was out for a month THIS SEASON.
Of course he’ll be healthy from there-on out. Its a contract year.
I wouldn’t even go near him with the Red Sox money.
Anyone who signs him is looking at Carl Pavano.

Oh good just what the Giants needed. Another injury prone player.
