Diamondbacks sign Daniel Cabrera
The Diamondbacks have signed Daniel Cabrera to a minor league deal, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert is reporting. The Diamondbacks would like to keep Cabrera as a starter, and plan to keep him in the 90-100 pitch mark when he reports to Triple-A Reno later this week.
While Cabrera struggled early on this season, he was throwing around 94-95 mph during his bullpen session. If Cabrera can command his fastball and slider more consistently, he could make for an above average middle of the rotation pitcher, especially with Brandon Webb out for the season.

Cheap, fills a pen spot for the rest of this year, allows them to waiver-trade one of their other starters...
Makes them a little more likely to win the Bryce Harper sweepstakes, etc.

If pigs were flying in my backyard, I could make a lot of delicious ham sandwiches.
