Mike Hampton to miss 2010 season
The Houston Astros released a statement saying that Astros lefty Mike Hampton will miss the 2010 season after undergoing surgery on a torn rotator cuff and a partially torn labrum in the shoulder.
Hampton, who pitched in 13 games last season for the Braves, missed all of 2006 and 2007 with injuries to his shoulder.
Hampton made the most starts he's made in five years, posting a disappointing 5.30 ERA in 21 starts.
The 37-year old is 148-115 in 409 career appearances with a 4.07 ERA. Hampton's best year came in 1999 when he went 22-4 with a 2.90 ERA. Not even two years later, the Rockies gave him the 12th largest contact in major league history - a seven year deal worth a 121 million dollars. He last just two years in the hitters friendly Coors Field, posting a 5.78 ERA but hitting .314 with 10 home runs in 143 at-bats.

They need to do studies on this guy
like they do on serial killers.
I cant think of a guy who did so great for so short of a time, and then keep coming back injury after injury.
Pretty sad for him. At least he attempted to earn his money. Must have a heart of steel.
