Chone Figgins to the Yankees?

In his latest installment of the 'Full Count,' FOXSports.com's senior writer Ken Rosenthal talks about the impending free agency of Angels third baseman Chone Figgins. Figgins is having another great year, and is in for a nice contract this offseason. He is hitting an impressive .366 with runners in scoring position, and is hitting 16 points above his career average.

Rosenthal speculates that the Yankees could pursue Figgins as an option for left field. He would be a cheap addition over someone like Matt Holliday or Jason Bay, and would give the Yankees more stability at the top of their order.

They'll have some competition though.

Both the White Sox and Cubs have interest in FIggins, and have for some time. His ability at the plate and in the field makes his very valuable to any team. Figgins could command anywhere between 6-8 million dollars annually.

I say yes not because they need speed...

but because Figgins gives solid production as a whole.

I’d rather have Figgins than Bay, but not Holliday really.

meh....

Id rather have none of the above…

Jason Bay’s a good player, Id say he’s playing for a contract this season even if he went in a funk in the summer.

Holliday was crap in the AL, so no.

Figgins’s calling card is his tough AB’s and speed, but I don’t know. If Johnny Damon wants a long term contract, Id be fine with offering him arb. and signing Figgy.

He can play all over, like Hairston.

I don;t know that it happens tho. I can’t see him leaving LAAAA

The Angels aren't about to let him go.

He is the only lead-off option on the Angels, has only been getting better, and, as mentioned, can switch to outfield to make room for Brandon Wood if need be.

I think they are going to do whatever it takes to keep him, Lackey, and either Vlad or Abreu.

Yes!!

Let the Yanks go after Figgins, so that will take away a competitor for Hollliday’s services…I’d love for the Cardinals to resign him, but it is less likely to happen if the Yanks and Red Sox are in the competition.

I voted yes they should, but I want the Yanks to do whatever is worse for them

Also notice that the first option refers to the Yankees as “they”, and the second choice says “we”. Thus, as a Sox fan, I have to choose yes. And in my unbiased opinion, I do think that they need a speed guy more than a power hitter, but like I said, I want them to do what’s worse.

Yeah, like the yankees aren't evil enough

They need just one more player to complete their pact with satan and finally buy another pennant. I’d rather Chone stay with the Angels or go to the Cubs, thanks.
