Padres sign Matt Stairs

PrintAfter reports came out that free agent DH/1B Matt Stairs lost over 30 pounds over the offseason, the Padres decided to offer him a contract to be their situational left-handed bat off the bench.
Stairs hasn't played too much over the past two years, but is a career .277 pinch hitter with a .389 on-base percentage.
A solid low-cost signing for the budget-strapped Padres.
