Yankees end talks with Johnny Damon, sign Randy Winn

The Yankees have effectively closed the book on signing Johnny Damon with the addition of Randy Winn on a one year deal worth 2 million dollars.

Winn, 35, is coming off a down year posting a .262 average and .318 OBP in 149 games for the Giants, but is a career .286 hitter with experience at all three spots in the outfield.

Winn will likely see most of his playing time in left field, but because he has had success on both sides of the plate, manager Joe Girardi has the option of working him in with both Brett Gardner and Nick Swisher.

Winn is also a defensive upgrade over Damon, which should also give Girardi some options late in the game.

This signing really doesn't

go well with me.

Johnny Damon provides much more to the Yankees than Randy Winn will.

Winn... A good one year pick-up for us in LF

Let the Spring competition for LF begin

It will be fun to watch.

Winn as #9 hole stick & LF starter with Gardner as 4th OF is my bet.

This is a bad bad move.

As a Giants fan and knowing the Yankees were looking for a right handed bat, this move is bad on so many levels.

Gotta disagree

I think Winn is more of a 4th outfielder every 3 days spells someone type of player. Not a starting OF

Is this a joke??

A bad one at that. Scott Boras if you read this, take my advice and never, never come to a Yanks home game. You’ll never leave the stadium alive!!

Even if the Yankees didn't want Damon back

Reed Johnson crushes lefties. Winn was unbelievably bad against lefties in ‘09. Granderson can’t hit lefties. Yankees would prefer Gardner not face tough lefties.

Johnson would’ve been a great fit even if they had resigned Damon.

Bye Jonny Bye

It’s Offical!,Randy Winn(s) The $2Mill. Contract Prize & Jonny & Boras Takes The Booby
Prize, Containing Zilch,Zero,Nada & AnyMore Adjectives 1 Can Come With!. I’d Kinda Like JD 2 Times, However When He Said"That He Was Worth What (New) Mr. Yankee [Jeter],Is Making I Felt He Went Way Out Of His Mind He’d Helped The Yanks To Win That Game Vs The Angels (While The Tex Shift Was On.Yes, He Stoled Both 2 ;3rd UnContested),Yet Derek Now Has 5 WS Rings (Almost Had 5 Additional 1s: ‘97,’01,‘03 > With In 1 Inn Away,’07>Those Batty Nats & Torres’ Demise Run)To His 1,So How Can Damon Say"He Deserves$$ Like [Jeter] Him. I Only @ Times Has A Union President In Order To Get A Better Contract For Us City Workers. Jonny Should’ve Just Taken The $$[$14Mill./2Yrs.That Ca$hman & Co.[Hal/ Hank] Offered, Shoot I Would’ve Taken The $$ & Ran Like …..
Now It Seems That No Teams Has The Monies Damon(More Like Boras) Wants,So He Just Has To Wait ‘n’ ‘C’ If Any Team Is In Desire Need For A 36 yr. Old No Throw Outfieldr
Now The Yanks R Set W/ Thier Outfield,‘C’ You In Oct.’10

Is Appelling The Last 3.3% (I) We Deserve] ;He’s Damon Has Been Squabbling For A Xtra $7Mill. Come On Now! So Randy Winn Wins Out!! Congrats 4 Him! Their All Set! !. Here’s My LineUp Prediction> :Jeter [SS] ,Jonhson (DH),Teixeira (1st B),Rodriguez(3rdB),Swisher (RF),Posada©,Cano(2ndB),Winn(LF);Granderson (CF). MayB Damon Will B Back From
