Astros agree to deal with Brett Myers
UPDATE (6:15 PM): The Astros and Myers have agreed to a contract, pending a physical, according to ESPN.com.
ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick is reporting that the Astros are talking with free agent right-hander Brett Myers. Myers became a free agent after the Phillies chose not to resign him despite his preference to stay in Philadelphia.
Myers appeared in only 18 games last season, 10 starts, posting a 4.84 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP.
With Roy Oswalt and Wandy Rodriguez at the top of the rotation, bringing in Myers in the three spot in front of Bud Norris gives the team an improved 1-4 from their 2009 rotation.
Bud Norris had a strong finish, posting a 1.57 ERA in his final four starts. Norris will be 25 by Opening Day but the Astros are hopeful that he is blossoming into a solid starter.
