Managerial Grumblings
It's the offseason of the managers.
- The New York Times is reporting that the Brewers are looking at "free agent" manager Bobby Valentine. The Brewers have interest in Nationals coach Pat Listach and former manager Bob Melvin, among others, while Valentine is being courted by the Mets and Mariners as well.
- The Marlins have not contacted interim manager Edwin Rodriguez since the season ended, a strong indication of where the Marlins are looking for their manager.
- White Sox bench coach Joey Cora will interview for the Brewers managerial position, according to the Chicago Tribune.
- The Cubs are still considering: Mike Quade, Ryne Sandberg, Eric Wedge, and Bob Melvin.
- Sources have informed MLBDD that the Yankees will certainly retain Joe Girardi beyond the 2010 season.

How can Valentine be courted by the Mets...
when they haven’t even hired a GM yet? The Wilpons made it clear that the new GM would hire a manager of their (the new GM) choosing (ultimately with the final okay from Fred and Jeff Wilpon). If some insider knows that the Mets are courting Valentine, then they must know who the new GM might be.
So who is it? Josh Byrnes, Logan White, Sandy Alderson, Baird, Hahn? The fact is nobody knows who the new GM, as of now, is going to be nor what manager they might pursue.
"Relax, have a homebrew."
Easy
The new New York Mets General Manager is likely to be Bobby Valentine. I don’t blame the Wilpons for the decision though because Bobby is the most successful manager in recent history, and that includes getting the Mets to the World Series.
Ah, I see...
how that could be, even though I didn’t see him on the “list” of people to be interviewed. I can’t imagine the same couyon who got ejected and snuck back in wearing a fake mustache would be the big dog in charge (also the same buffoon who was an ESPN analyst). Imagine him being Joe Torre’s boss? Tisk tisk, Mets.
