Mariners name Eric Wedge next manager

The Mariners will name Eric Wedge their next manager, according to multiple reports. Wedge was drawing interest from several teams around the league, which would explain why the Mariners were so quick to lock him up. 

Wedge was a great manager in Cleveland who left on a sour note after the team was in disarray. It was only a few years before that the same team featuring Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia made it to the ALCS.

The Mariners have a lot of young talent and with Wedge could move  back into the discussion in the already competitive AL West.
