Diamondbacks to pursue Paul Konerko?

ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine is reporting that the Diamondbacks will make a strong run at impending free agent Paul Konerko. The Diamondbacks currently have Adam LaRoche at first base, but are trying to cut back on strike outs after leading the league in 2010.

Konerko certainly fits the bill, having only struck out just 110 times this season, the most of his career but he still managed to post a .396 on-base percentage.

Konerko will be 35 at the start of next season but could still land a three year deal in the range of 9-10 million dollars annually. If the market slows like it has in the previous two offseasons, we could see teams low ball Konerko with one or two year offers in the range of 6-7 million dollars annually.
