News And Notes: Kuroda, Contreras, Sandberg
-The Los Angeles Dodgers have re-signed Hiroki Kuroda to a one year $12 million deal, according to various sources.
-The Phillies have re-signed Jose Contreras to a two year $5.5 million deal, which will also include incentives.
-In other Phillies news, the Phillies have hired Ryne Sandberg to be the manager of their AAA club, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Nice name. Interesting that Sandberg, who declined the Cubs bench coach offer, did not find another MLB offer, even as a bench coach.
-Rick Peterson is no longer the Brewers pitching coach, and the Yankees will not interview him, nor Leo Mazzone for their vacancy.

Failure by Kuroda's agent
or an obvious admission that Kuroda wants to go back to Japan. He’s worth 12 mil, but I think most had him pegged at a 2 year deal in the 16-19m range. Maybe it was the no trade clause that they were after. Strange though – a 35 year old pitcher coming off a solid season should be looking for a multiple year guaranteed contract.
