Mets nearing deal with pitcher Chris Young
ESPN.com is reporting that the Mets are closing in on a deal with pitcher Chris Young. Young only appeared in 4 games this season but posted a 0.90 ERA and a 2-0 record. GM Jed Hoyer said the Padres are interested in bringing Young back but at a lower amount to the 8.5 million dollar option they declined last month.
Young hasn't had a double-digit win season since 2006 when he posted 11 wins, and hasn't appeared in more than 30 games since 2007. Young does own a career 3.80 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP over seven seasons.
The Blue Jays have also expressed interest.
