Red Sox Exercise David Ortiz's Option: Will Return in 2011

After a monster 2010 All-Star season, the Red Sox have decided to exercise the $12.5 million option of designated hitter David Ortiz according to Ian Browne of MLB.com

Ortiz, has spent the last eight years in Boston and has been able to hit at least 30 home runs in six of his eight years in Boston and helped bring two world championships to Boston in 2004 and 2007.

However, in the last three seasons, Oritz has received a lot of skepticism as he has been prone to get off to very slow starts. The decision to keep Ortiz came one day after Adrian Beltre decided to decline his 10 million dollar player option and enter free agency.
