Athletics eyeing free agent relievers

The Athletics are looking into signing free agent relievers Hideki Okajima and Chad Qualls, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. While both Okajima and Qualls are coming off bad years, with Okajima setting career highs in several categories (L, ERA, WHIP) and Qualls is coming off two atrocious seasons, combining a 6.93 ERA over 70 total appearances.

Both pitchers are great buy-low options, especially for the always improving AL West.

The A's bullpen

Already having a strong pen,why not add Balfour? They should have some extra money as FA’s did not go to Oakland.Another quality arm in the pen would allow the young starting staff to throw less pitches. Balfour’s price will have to come down,but the Collesium is still one of the best pitchers park’s.It could mean three or four more wins for the A’s.
