Red Sox Acquire Adrian Gonzalez For Padres

The Boston Red Sox have acquired the player they have wanted for the past three seasons. Adrian Gonzalez will be coming to Boston in a trade that nets the Padres three top prospects and a player to be named later that is not a top prospect.

The Padres received the #1 Red Sox prospect in Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo, and Reymond Fuentes. Fuentes is the cousin of current Met Carlos Beltran.

The Red Sox have a negotiating window to agree to a contract extension with Gonzalez, who will play first base for the Sox. Kevin Youkilis will move to third base, and there is almost no chance the Red Sox re-sign their third baseman from last season, Adrian Beltre.
