Reds sign Orlando Cabrera

The Reds and Orlando Cabrera have agreed to a one year deal worth 3 million dollars, with a 1 million dollar buyout for the 2011 season. Cabrera is coming off a pretty solid year with Oakland and Minnesota, hitting .284 in 160 games.

Cabrera, a 12-year veteran with a .275 career average, hit .284 last season with the Athletics and Twins. Oakland traded him to Minnesota shortly before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

Cabrera gives the Reds a veteran infield, with Joey Votto and Scott Rolen at the corners and Brandon Phillips and Cabrera up the middle.
