Mets still interested in Rod Barajas

MetsBlog.com is reporting that the Mets remain interested in free agent catcher Rod Barajas. One NL source believes the Mets were simply waiting for Barajas' price to come down, which it apparently has done.

The 34-year old catcher clubbed 19 home runs last season with the Blue Jays, and would likely split time with Omir Santos as the primary catcher.

With Yorvit Torrealba all but signed in San Diego, Barajas is the top remaining catcher on the market. He won't be able to command much of a contract, but something in the range of 1.5-2.5 million, plus incentives, seems reasonable.
