The Nationals and free agent second baseman Adam Kennedy have agreed to a one year deal worth 1.25 million dollars plus a 2 million dollars option for 2011, according to ESPN.com.
Kennedy, an 11-year veteran with the Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels, hit .289 with 11 home runs and 63 RBIs last season for the A's.
Kennedy turned out to be a nice fallback to Orlando Hudson, who signed with the Twins for a one year deal. The move means Cristian Guzman and Ian Desmond will share time at shortstop.
