Athletics release Willy Taveras
MLB.com's Jane Lee is reporting that the Athletics have released outfielder Willy Taveras. Taveras would have only created more of a logjam in the outfielder, which is why he was designated for assignment on February 1st - they day he was acquired with Adam Rosales from the Reds.
He will probably get picked up somewhere, but likely on a minor league deal.

I concur.
Except it won’t be a minor league deal. They’ll guarantee money. Jose Guillen style.
Why not us? Why not now?

not that much though...
Taveras hasn’t “proved” himself as much as Guillen. Plus he was just designated for assignment, Guillen was released at the end of his season.
