The Brewers made a run at free agent outfielder Jermaine Dye last week, but talks could not produce a contract agreement. Sources believe that if the team signed Dye, they would have looked to trade outfielder Corey Hart, who is set to make 4.8 million this season.
Hart is only hitting .127 in spring and his numbers have only regressed since 2007. Dye hit .250 with 27 home runs last season, but it is unclear whether or not he can play in the outfield.
