UPDATE: Rockies have signed Kaz Matsui to a minor league contract, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com.
Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd confirmed today that the Rockies do have interest second baseman Kaz Matsui. Matsui struggled in 27 games before he was released by the Astros, clearing waivers today to become a free agent.
Matsui played well in his first stint with the Rockies, playing in 136 games over the course of two seasons. In that time, he hit .316 with 6 home runs and a .367 on-base percentage. However, if the Rockies decide to go after him he would need to accept a minor league assignment to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
