It has been quite a season for A's pitcher Dallas Braden. First, it was an on-field confrontation with Yankees third basemen Alex Rodriguez that brought Braden into the spotlight, but more for calling out A-Rod as a relatively unknown pitcher.
Well today, Braden's season took a turn towards stardom as he hurled the 19th perfect game in major league history. Braden sat down all 27 Rays he faced, not a single batter more, on his way to his fourth win of the season. He lowered his ERA from 4.14 to a solid 3.33 after this past start.
The A's were able to drive in four runs off mostly singles, but it was good play calling and defense that allowed this historic outcome to happen.
