Pirates to release Akinori Iwamura?
After trading for second baseman Akinori Iwamura, making him their highest-paid player, the Pirates thought Iwamura could fill the void left by Freddy Sanchez, who was traded to the Giants midseason. In 45 games this season, Iwamura is hitting just .172 with 2 home runs, his worst start since coming over to Major League Baseball.
NL sources confirmed that the Pirates have shopped Akinori Iwamura around, but have not found any takers. The Rockies emerged as one possibility, but they signed Kaz Matsui to a minor league deal and will let that play out before pursuing other options. The Astros could also be an option as they are in need of a middle infielder.

I wouldn't mind the Giants taking him on as a utility man
Proud father of Mike Krukow (who is more than 3 times my age)

Still cheering for Kevin Frandsen
John Bowker: One of the 3 best OF's on the Giants roster
I think if he is released, he maybe a good signing for the Cubs. I mean he plays a decent 2B and it could allow them to start trying to move Theriot or Fontenot.
I say only do it if he accepts a minor league deal. See if he can still play, he would be a solid lead off guy if he returned to form. Like I said only on a minor league deal and if he pans out he helps the team.
