Mets interested in Fausto Carmona

ESPN.com's Buster Olney is reporting that the Mets have mild interest in Indians pitcher Fausto Carmona. Carmona is having a resurgence after after a rough 2009 season, posting a 6-5 record with a 3.31 ERA in 14 starts.

The Mets could use some relief in the rotation as they are only 1.5 games back in the division. Carmona would certainly fit the bill but there are concerns over how we would respond to pitching in New York.

However, Carmona is under contract through 2013 and if he responded well to the NL and pitching in New York, it would give the Mets a solid core of pitching for the future.
