Marlins to interview at least two for managerial position

The Marlins' first round of interviews for the managerial position will happen this weekend, according to FOXSports.com. The two candidates from outside the organization are front-runner Bobby Valentine and Diamondbacks third base coach Bo Porter. The team will also interview interim manager Edwin Rodriguez.

Sources say there are voices within the Marlins front office who are pulling for all three candidates. The team likes that Rodriguez is Puerto Rican, especially with the Marlins-Mets series happening in San Juan next week. The team also likes Porter, a former Marlin coach for five seasons, because he is familiar with the team and the division.

The team is expected to offer Bobby Valentine their managerial position in large part because of his experience and history of putting a winning team on the field. Valentine could be in the dugout at some point next week, although it is unclear how long the process will take.
