The Orioles designated infielder Garrett Atkins for assignment today to make room for pitcher Koji Uehara, according to MLB.com. Atkins is hitting .214 with 1 home run in 44 games this season, a steep seventy point drop from his career line.
Atkins will likely get picked up on a minor league deal and back in the majors after a solid month of play at Triple-A.
