Source: Royals, Yasmani Grandal have not discussed deal

UPDATE (7:46 PM): Just spoke to Yasmani Grandal and here is what he said regarding the report that a deal is in place with the Royals:

I really haven't talk to [the Royals] at all I don't know what all the fuzz is about. I have no clue of what's going on hopefuly I will know a bit more in two days.

Well, that clears that up. We should all know for sure on Monday. 

Frankie Piliere of Fanhouse is reporting that the Royals have an agreement in place to draft and sign University of Miami catcher Yasmani Grandal. Grandal, recent recipient of the ACC Player of the Year award, is tearing it up as he leads his team to the College World Series in Omaha. 

The Royals have made some questionable draft choices in the past, but the past three seasons have been fairly strong for the team. Adding Grandal to the fold would give the team a catcher of the future comparable to Matt Wieters who could be in the majors within 2 seasons. 

Correspondence with Grandal and his representation team have not been immediately returned.
