The Brewers released pitcher Jeff Suppan today after failing to rise out of a season-long slump, according to Rotoworld.com. Suppan owns a 7.84 ERA on the season and has been in the bullpen for the past month.
The Brewers are on the hook for the 12.5 million they owe him this season, as well as the 2 million dollar buyout for the 2011 club option.
Suppan will likely get picked up with another club, but certainly on a minor league deal. It's unfair to speculate where he would wind up at this point, but one would have to think that teams will kick the tires on Suppan up until the All-Star Break, which is plenty of time for Suppan to ready himself for the second half of the season.
